Our Story

Our Story (told by Melanie)

Alejandro & I met in September 2021 when our best friends Jordan & Savannah got married. I was a bridesmaid, he was Jordan's best man. When the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran came on, I was bummed to not have anyone to dance with. Alejandro noticed, pulled me by the hand, and said, "come on, let's go dance". To this day, whenever I hear Perfect by Ed Sheeran or Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton, I will forever have flashbacks to dancing with him that night.

After the wedding where we exchanged numbers, Alejandro was very persistent on asking me on a date. I kept declining- not because I did not want to go, but because life for me around that time was busy and I never had energy to do anything else. FINALLY after him being so persistent, I agreed to go to an Atlanta Braves game with him on October 3rd, 2021.

After that date, we were inseparable. I lived in Cartersville at the time while he was in Chattanooga. We spent weekends going back and forth to see each other, which was exhausting but so worth it.

Alejandro has always been so supportive of me- when I was really struggling with my career and trying to find a good fit for me, he never left my side. In 2023, when he came to me with a new job offer in Charleston, SC, I knew our lives were about to change. He has been so supportive of me, and I wanted to show that same support to him as well. He moved to Charleston in March of 2023, and I followed close behind in May.

Our adventures in Charleston have been so much fun- we've made such a nice home for ourselves here, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

In September 2024, we took a trip back to Georgia to visit with family. That weekend, Alejandro wanted to go on a date night in Chattanooga where we met. He insisted that I wear something nice and that we were going to go walk around Coolidge Park before our dinner reservations. Little did I know that he was going to pop the question that night on the Walnut Street Bridge! Looking back, I totally should have seen the signs that he was going to propose (there were SO many), but I told him later that I didn't see a ring box in his pocket beforehand (I looked at his pockets before EVERY date night looking for a ring box), so I didn't think it was going to happen. Silly me. Oh, I said yes, obviously.

Anyways, here we are bout to live out our happily ever after, and I cannot wait to see what is to come with my best friend and the love of my life.
